Tempus is a decentralized protocol that allows speculation on yield for profit or optimizing your future yield. Tempus also functions as a yield aggregation tool that aims to provide additional APYs on yield-bearing tokens. The first comprehensive audit of the Tempus Protocol will begin this August.

The project raised $ 1.9 million in the Seed round
Participants were both venture capital funds and market makers in the DeFi space. The round was led by Lemniscap (Pendle, Liquity, Axelar), followed by Divergence Ventures (Ribbon, Charm, Fractional), Tomahawk VC, GSR, Wintermute, LAUNCHub and Supernova. Soon, the team plans to attract additional investments within the framework of Series A.
About the project
Tempus Protocol is currently under development. Therefore, we suggest subscribing to social media, Medium and Discord to keep an eye on important announcements and the launch of the main network. If you are a qualified specialist in the field of blockchain technologies, there is an opportunity to become part of the team. You can find current offers here. The main goal of the protocol is to enable users to optimize their current exposure to variable yield to better match their risk profile. Tempus splits the YBT (yield-bearing tokens) into two new tokens: Principals and Yields.
- Principal Tokens are fungible tokens that allow users to redeem them no later than their maturity date;
- Interest Tokens are fungible tokens that allow the user to redeem them after maturity to generate income accrued on each unit of the main token between the start date and the maturity date.
Pendle and Element have a similar system with dividing the main asset into several tokens within the platform. This is a relatively new DeFi strategy that could become a trend and shoot to fame among DeFi users. Fixed rate most types of farming provide variable income. This means that the income of depositors can be completely different, and it is not completely clear how much money they can earn. Currently, getting a fixed income and speculating on the rewards is not always easy. The point is that the fixed-income option makes it possible to trade split tokens. A special AMM was developed for these purposes, and it takes into account the custom properties of these tokens.
Tempus provides users with several options for how to use the platform:
- Yield farm at a fixed rate
- Yield farm on leverage
- Speculate on short or longer term fluctuations in the rate of interest or yield
- Earn swap fees as a liquidity provider.
For users who want a fixed rate yield:
Users can see the current fixed income offered on Tempus and simply deposit ETH, DAI or other assets and receive a fixed return backed up by stETH returns, cDAI, etc. transaction stage in the backend).
For users who want to provide liquidity:
Users can deposit ETH, DAI etc. and they will get the underlying yield (stETH - ETH staking yield for example) and the Tempus LP yield (swap fees), aggregated into one high yield. They can deposit and withdraw at any time.
Initially, the protocol will support some of the most liquid farming tokens. Other income-generating assets will be added in the future step by step. Monitoring the user demand, including standard AMM LP tokens for popular pairs, will enable new assets to be included in the future. There will be enough liquidity on the platform in the next versions, and any user will be able to create pools with the appropriate functions and options.
In the beginning, Tempus integrates with Lido, Aave and Compound.
New integrations and partnerships are also planned in the future. The project received a $ 30,000 grant from LEGO (Lido Ecosystem Grants Organization) for integrating the stETH token into the Tempus platform. The team is working hard on launching the protocol, preparing more content and interesting events for the community.
Follow our announcements. In the next article we will talk about how the Tempus Protocol works.
